You tube Spot welder

Watch this video and write 10 lines to explain how spot welding works. This explanation should look at how you intend to use this for your toolbox. The use of a diagram would assist your explanation. list the advantages this type of welding has for making your box.

Spot welding works by having two points either side of the metal with an electric charge going through it. it doesn't distort the metal as mig welding would as it only welds a small area of it. it would help make our boxes as it won't distort the metal and it would not have the metal weld visible as it would if we were to use mig welding.

Spot welding works by two pieces of metal that squash the metal in between the two heated pieces, which makes it keep together, it is used to make cars and other vehicles and machines.

when using a spot welder you should wear
goggels to prtect your eyes
gloves for holding the tool so it dosent burn or cut your hands
wear an apron so that when you moce the metal the grease from the metal does not get on your clothes

Spot welding will be used to finalise our toolbox. When using the welder you should always wear :
The welding mask this will prevent any sparks blinding the back of your eye.
You should also always wear gloves when using the welder. This will prevent you from burning your hands on any of the sparks flying on to your hand which means you could have blisters and serious pain for a few days.
This will help finalise our toolbox because it will join all of the sides together to finish our toolboxes.

I have watched the video.
The first thing I have learned from the spot welding video is the importance of safety - to wear goggles, to protect my eyes from anything that might go into them, to wear gloves to help protect my hands from sharp edges and hot materials, to wear an apron to stop mess getting onto my clothes, and to wear any other personal protective equipment required to spot weld. I have also learnt that spot welding works by two pieces of metal closing together with the metals in between it, and when the two pieces are touching the metals, a hot burst passes through the metal and secures the metal.

the saftey of spot welding is that you have wear, safety googles and gloves to stop yourself from being burnt. you must also tuck you shirt and tie in. tie you hair back if you have long hair. you must remove jewerally and also watch what you are doing at all times and do not talk to anyone whiles working with it....
